A Clever Way of Quickly Getting Your News with Newsmap

Tech: News

http://bit.ly/7GiKxV

“Newsmap is an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator.”

It’s nice to feel you’re up to date on the most recent news.  What I like about Newsmap is that I can see the latest news, and what stories are getting the most attention.  I set this webpage as one of my, “vitals,” so I can quickly get an update and move on my way.

The Apple App Store Economy

GIGAOM recently put together a cool mini-story/illustration of how impressive Apple’s App Store economy is. A piece GIGAOM posted last August compares the usage and app downloading trends of the iPhone, iPod touch, and phones on the Android platform.

It’s no secret that mobile applications have become a significant and trendy part of the greater mobile phone industry.  Apple has easily been the dominant player pioneering this effort. What’s interesting is that the demand for apps has helped drive demand for smart phones (especially the iPhone), thus increasing the number of people on the mobile web. This compelling increase in internet mobility will fuel continued innovation in mobile web advertising, drastically changing the way advertisers reach their target  audience.

Exploring Design Thinking with Mind Maps

Design Thinking: Mindmap

http://bit.ly/5sdkBi

I’ve been poking around online, looking for a software that works well for “Mind Maps”. This week I tried MindMeister. This link connects you to a mind map I created on the subject of statistics. Mind maps are fascinating ways to look at subjects, problems, or really anything. For more on mind maps check out Buzan World http://bit.ly/6ML3Ty.

Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Don’t

Design: The good, the bad, the messed up.

http://bit.ly/5FRMTL (Pictures)

Everyone loves to pick up Popular Mechanics and look at the pictures of what crazy new technologies we can look forward to in the future.  But what if we step back in time and look at what we thought would be the crazy new technologies of the future.  What lessons can be learned from this? (Props to w00t blog for putting this together.)
